10 THINGS ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT





Not sure why some friends asked me to write about 10 things about kam-fei (means diet and lose weight). I wasn't the most successful among all, but losing 13 - 15kgs, was a great achievement and I'll never forget how big was my panties last time :)



I had another article of kam-fei earlier, can't remember much what I've written, this article is more to what to avoid and what to eat and what to do during diet (not professionally written but at least, you can see some real life experiences).



1 - AVOID DEVILS
Who are these devils? Delicious food? Yes, they are, but main devil will be those who always say, "You go on diet? You will definitely failed!" I had a few close buddies who never thought that I pull through the 3-month programme and lost some weight. I was a great companion for food, I always order more that we can eat. One principle, must eat, enjoy til we are full and have fun! During the kam-fei period, just see them less and don't be challenged by them. Real friends will encourage you and will eat healthily with you. I had a friend who bought me a new blouse to motivate me, how lovely she is...


2 - NO KFC, NO NASI LEMAK, NO SATAY, NO ROTI CANAI, NO ALCOHOL FOR 3 months
In actual fact, those who loves to eat nasi lemak, will eat nasi lemak at least once or twice a week, who can resist the spicy sambal and ayam rendang? I think some expert said, one packet of nasi lemak will need us to jog how many hours to burn the calories... hahaha... just 3 months, forget these super-yummy food!




3 - EAT AT THE RIGHT TIME, THE RIGHT QUANTITY
People always say, Breakfast is the most important meal that you've to eat before 9am. hahaha, to be honest, I only eat at 10am most of the time. It doesn't matter, as long as it's a healthy breakfast and another healthy lunch, it helps to supply good energy to your body.


During the dieting period, I always ask for half bowl of rice, or half bowl of noodles, JUST SAY IT DIRECT TO THE STALL AUNTY. Don't be shy of eating less, despite you having a fat body. You are paying for your own food, remember this! Also, if you have colleagues or friends who can eat half of your food, give it generously to them, instead of wasting the food.

Eat large amount of veggies, fruits and less sweet will do!


For dinner, if you have to work late, grab some snacks in the office at 5 or 6pm, and when you reach home, just drink a food replacement vanilla drink and go to bed. You won't feel hungry if you are sleeping. Remember, just for a few months, and everything will be fine...



4 - DO EXERCISE THAT YOU ENJOY
Most people will join gym so that they can get the maximum results with the help of those 6-pack gym instructors - wow, yummy! I would love to, but I didn't have the time & $$$ hehehe!

I started with yoga - I never yoga in my entire life, I started with DVDs at home, and fell in love with it. It works! I never joined any aerobic classese although I love to dance. KLCC Park, every Tuesday & Thursday 6-7pm, there will be free aerobic sessions in the park, sponsored by Petronas, the instructor is a cute malay lady, Umi :) Thanks Umi, I love attending your dance sessions.

Being such a fat woman, jogging is not advisable as I heard from the radio, it hurts our knees/joints. I walk (not really fast) and jog a little and walk more. Just keep on walking for 30-40 minutes at KLCC Park, it is refreshing.




5 - DON'T MEASURE TOO FAST!
Some people will start to measure their weight after 3 days of their diet programme. That's too fast, you can't see any results and that demotivating you. Forget it if you want fast result, your body is not ready for it! Losing weight is just like falling in love, you need time and patience. Your body needs time to adjust to your new eating habits and exercise, don't overwhelmed it unnecessarily.



In general, it's reasonable to lose 1 kg per week, and it will stagnant after a few kgs, and just be patient and continue to eat healthily and exercise at least 2 times a week - for busy people, just walk more.




6- ASK THOSE WHO HAD LOST WEIGHT FOR ADVISE - but don't follow it all!
Some people will only be interested to lose weight when they see their friends are losing weight. They will start to ask what product to consume, and how they do it. It's good for information sharing and gaining some tips. But NOT ALL TIPS ARE USEFUL. I've heard of people eating only 3 apples a day and jogging everyday and managed to lose more than 10kgs in a few weeks. That's abnormal! Our body is not equipped with the right nutrients and it's losing water!

8 - SET A REWARD FOR YOURSELF, NOT A TARGET
Most people will say, I want to lose 10kgs in 3 months. Isn't that a 'pressure'? When you started to weight yourself, and you just managed to lose 3kgs on the 2nd month, you feel like hitting your head against the wall! Dont' set it this way. If you are not losing weight (example 1kg per week for the 1st 2 months) analyse your eating habits and exercise patterns. It takes time to lose weight, and bare in mind, your body has been so bloody fat for so many years, and now you are asking those 'fats' to leave you, you think that's easy? hahaha!

Get some good friends or your parents to reward you if you are able to lose some weight. Perhaps holidays to your dream-land, when you are able to lose 10kgs in 3 to 6 months, don't be rigid to set at 3 month. Relax and enjoy the new you!


9 - GET A NEW HAIRCUT
By getting a new haircut, you will see how you've changed and how these changes bring in a new you.






10 - THROW AWAY OLD CLOTHES ONCE YOU CAN'T FIT THEM
Some people will tend to keep old clothes, especially those branded ones. If you are losing weight, THROW THEM AWAY! Don't tell me you want to fit into those hugs pants and blause again? Forget it, give away or throw!

Time for a new wardrobe and a NEW YOU!
